RetroChallenge 2010 Entry

News

-July 25th, 2010: All time free time seems to be spent on everything else but the project. Tomorrow its time to start small summer trip with my aunt's old Volvo (240 GL) which means the end of the challenge for me. There is nothing complete related to the flight simulator project (maybe next winter again). However, get your copy of the 3D library if you are interested to have a look at it (Download). It is not carefully documented and there are incomplete things and tricks but feel free to browse and improve it for your own purposes. Remember that most of it was written before the RetroChallenge 2010. Happy remaining contest.

-July 20th, 2010: Two evenings have been spent at building and painting the instrument panel and implementing some practical things to the 3D world. No images today because the complicated file transfer related issue has not been resolved yet :'(

-July 17th, 2010: Lot of perfectly good programming time was wasted on all kind of summer activities. Some kind of airplane frame was finally built. The next thing to do is install flight instruments and control related systems. (Photo of the intended screenshot because file transfer was not possible because of some complicated reasons :( ).

-July 8th, 2010: Small hangar with little pavement area in front of it were constructed. There is now a secure place for building some kind of flying machine (Image).

-July 6th, 2010: Crashes and freezes were finally fixed. The reason was pretty cryptic but probably not worth of story.
There is now 3D world and little building which shall serve as a control tower etc. for some time. The screenshot was taken with a real camera because the challenge machines don't have internet access yet (Image).

-July 2nd, 2010: The project was started by copying and writing basic application with window, menus and event handler. The small 3D library was also included to the project but for now it was only crashing or freezing the development machine. Amazing how earlier perfectly operating program code can go bad when it is not properly stored in a freezer.

-June 30th, 2010: This page was created and the machines were wired, prepared and introduced.
